This course offers an experiential approach to this practice, as an opportunity to explore and deepen our understanding of love, empathy, caring and self-compassion and how we can integrate kindness and compassion into everyday life, so that practice and life are not separate.

The Buddha taught that craving is a root cause of suffering, and that meditation is part of the path to freedom from the cycle of attachment and habitual behaviour. The 11th Step of Alcoholics Anonymousalso points to the power of meditation in creating positive change in our lives. In this workshop, we’ll explore ways that mindfulness and compassion can support abstinence from habitual substances or behaviours that cause harm.
Open to people in any form of recovery and suitable for those who are new to meditation. There will be periods of guided meditation, group discussion, and community building. Led by Lulu Cook and Tanya Smith. Suggested donation $10 – $20.
Please contact lulucook@icloud.com with questions and visit www.HeartInsight.com.au for more opportunities to practice.

The Heart Practices of metta (loving-kindness), karuna (compassion), mudita (joy), and upekkha (equanimity) are fundamental to the Buddhist path. They are also part of how we share what it means to be human, in connection with ourselves and others. This daylong will link these traditional practices with wisdom that relates to daily life.
Open to all, including those who are new to meditation. There will be periods of meditation, group discussion, and interactive practices, led by Lulu Cook and Lyndi Smith.
Registration is $20 – $40 at the door, please consider giving generously to offset expenses and attendance for those who are financially constrained. There will also be an opportunity to offer a donation to the teachers on the day. Please let us know if you’re concerned about the registration cost, as no one will be turned away due to lack of funds.
Please bring a healthy dish to share for lunch if you’d like; or take-away is available close by.
